Saltine Crackers





Saltine crackers are thin,square crackers made with flour and baking soda,sprinkled with coarse salt.Saltine crackers are guilt free snack can be eaten as such or with some cheese,peanut butter or some dipping.

Coming to the recipe,these are  crunchy crackers,super easy to make and totally delicious.I made them in small squares,you can make it bigger with a different shape.Varieties of dried herbs can also be used for flavoring.These crackers are so tempting and both of my kids finished these cute as soon as I finished clicking.

   Basic Information

All purpose flour/maida
1 cup
Butter/vennai
2 tbs
Olive oil
2 tbs
Salt
1/2 tsp
Baking Powder
1/4 tsp

   For the topping

Ingredient
Quantity
Olive oil
2 tsp
Coarse Salt
as needed to sprinkle
Dried herbs
as needed(optional)

Method
  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper and keep it aside. Preheat the oven in 400 F.
  • Now in a bowl all the ingredients given ,mix it well.Slowly add water and knead it to  a soft pliable dough.
  • Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and roll each portion to a thin round or rectangle using a rolling pin.With the help of cookie cutter or knife cut into small squares.Transfer it to the lined baking tray.
  •  Now  brush each cracker with olive oil and make 3-4  small holes using a fork on the cracker.Sprinkle some coarse salt and bake it in a pre-heated oven for 15-18 minutes or till the crackers turned golden.
  • After cooling store it in an air tight container.



    • While rolling,roll the dough to a thin sheet.
    • The crackers may be soft,when it is hot,after cooling it will be crispy and crunchy.
    • Dried herbs can be topped along with the coarse salt.

    Strawberry Mango Popsicle

    Today is the final day of Blogging Marathon #16 and the the recipe is a colorful popsicle made with fresh strawberries and mangoes.
