Simple Everyday South Indian Thali

After, couple of weeks break,I am starting the blogging with Blogging Marathon 70th edition. For this week I choose the Thali as theme and sharing a simple everyday Tamilnadu style Thali. For this theme I wanted to share some other state Thali. But due to lot of personal work and my laptop issues, finally ended up in making a typical home style food.
Most of the recipes made for this thali were shared already but the beetroot poriyal is a pending post.So sharing the recipe and also used the beet greens and made kootu out of it.Will share the kootu recipe later.
The Thali consists of

White rice
Ennai Kathirikkai Kulambhu
Rasam
Vellarikkai(cucumber) Thayir pachadi/raita
Beet leaves Kootu
Beetroot Poriyal
Paruppu Thogayal
Curd
Arisi Vathal/Vadam aka Ilai Vadam

Coming to the recipe, here I used roasted peanuts in the poriyal to give extra crunch.Instead of peanuts, boiled peas or channa dhal can be used.

Paasiparuppu Dosa/Yellow Moong Dhal Dosa

For the 5th day under instant dosa varieties in Cooking Carnival is a protein rich dosa with moong dhal. This dosa can be called as vegetarian omlette as the taste resembles egg omlette. This dosa can be spread into a thin crepe or like uthappam/pancake.Either way it tastes good. The dhal gets soaked in less than an hour, once the batter is ready the dosa can be made.Grated veggies or some greens can be added to make it more healthy. Today I used, chopped onion and coriander leaves.Spicy tomato chutney or coriander chutney pairs very well with this dosa.Lets move on to the recipe............                                                                                                    ...

Rava Kozhukattai/Rava Pidi kozhukattai

For the alphabet R,I decided to make something with rava aka semolina. But I have blogged most of the  rava recipes  in Tamil cuisine. When I was going through the cook books and hand written recipes, rava kozhukattai caught my attention. The method of making this kozhukattai is same as  upma kozhukattai ,whereas rava/semolina is used instead of rice. Both sweet and savory versions can be made with semolina. As we had lot of sweet dishes in the previous week I made the savory version.Soon share the sweet version. This is a great option for evening snack and I served with coconut chutney.Lets move on to the  recipe............                                                                                          ...

Cinnamon Pull Apart Loaf /Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread

We are starting the first week of 65th edition of blogging marathon and for this week I chose pull apart breads. My kids love homemade breads and buns a lot.Especially if its cinnamon flavor its a real treat for them.So made two small loaves  of pull apart bread ,the loaf has come out so well and the house was filled with the aroma of cinnamon. The bread tasted awesome and I had half of the loaf as soon as I finished taking the picture.Rest of the loaves were gobbled by my kids.I made the bread dough with 4.5 cups and  divided the dough to make another savory roll. The given measurement makes a 8 ½ x 4 ½ loaf, off to the recipe......                                                                                           ...
